Bibliotheek Godgeleerdheid en Godsdienstwetenschap

Via benchmarking meten en vergelijken de 13 Nederlandse universiteitsbibliotheken hun prestaties. De gegevens hebben betrekking op de budgetverdeling, collectievorming, de effectiviteit van de dienstverlening etc. Dit instrument wordt regelmatig bijgesteld om in te kunnen spelen op nieuwe ontwikkelingen in de bibliotheek.

Het gebruik van digitale bestanden bij de RUG is groot, ook in vergelijking tot andere universiteitsbibliotheken. Het aantal zoekacties in bijvoorbeeld WebofScience lag het afgelopen jaar 40% hoger dan het landelijk gemiddelde.

Opmerkelijk is dat de daling van het aantal uitleningen bij de RUG relatief  laat is opgetreden. In de afgelopen 4 jaar met 23%, hetgeen forser is dan landelijk (18%).

De centrale informatiebalie in de Universiteitsbibliotheek

In 2012 werden de uitkomsten van het eerder gehouden Klanttevredenheidsonderzoek (KTO) verwerkt tot een rapport. De resultaten geven een goede indicatie van de wijze waarop gebruikers over de verschillende aspecten van de dienstverlening denken.

Een van de belangrijkste conclusies van het KTO is, dat medewerkers en studenten heel tevreden zijn over zowel de collectie als de dienstverlening. Zo is de tevredenheid over het aanbod van elektronische (tijdschrift-)bestanden van de RUG hoog. Dat beeld wordt bevestigd door het hoge aantal geraadpleegde artikelen in e-journals (ca. 3,8 miljoen artikelen).

Het gemiddeld aantal zoekacties in Science Direct door medewerkers en studenten aan de RUG bedraagt 16,30 (in 2011). Daartegenover staat het gemiddeld aantal uitleningen door medewerkers en studenten, dat in 4 jaar tijd is teruggelopen van 10,52 naar 7,22.

Tegelijkertijd moet worden vastgesteld, dat  relatief veel onderdelen van de dienstverlening minder bekend zijn bij de medewerkers en studenten van de RUG. Dit geldt voor Ondersteuning online informatiediensten zoals Libguides (57%), RefWorks (45%), Inloopinstructies (43%), Ondersteuning bij het elektronisch publiceren (33%) en Repositories (19%). Aandachtspunten dus voor 2013 en de toekomst. Het verbeteren van de zichtbaarheid van bibliotheekdiensten en -producten vormt de grootste uitdaging om aan te pakken.
